Gucci bags for women
Gucci bags are considered one of the fashion world’s most prized possessions. Anyone lucky enough to carry Gucci crossbody bag, tote or clutch knows all about its little secrets. Discover plush interiors, easy-access pockets and mythological clasps. Be seduced by soft suede, grained leather and textural canvas.
Irresistible double G hardware will bring a smile to your lips every time it catches your eye. It’s little wonder that Gucci handbags are desired by women the world over thanks to their unforgettable style.
A leather good love affair
Founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, a humble Italian saddler, Gucci began life as a single shop. Inspired by luxurious luggage and designer handbags he’d spotted while employed at London’s Savoy Hotel, Gucci launched a collection of leather goods fit for nobility and horseman in the romantic city of Florence.
As the designer’s popularity grew, he was championed by the nation’s horse-riding aristocrats, hence the horse bit hardware you see today incorporated into Gucci's shoes, purses and jewelry. In the late 1940s, the label broke new ground when it began utilising unorthodox materials such as linen, hemp and jute. The Gucci Bamboo bag with its unforgettable burnished cane handles was born; a purse still cherished today.
In 1964, the brand’s instantly recognisable “Double G” logo was finally unveiled to the world. The beautiful interlocked letters were designed by Aldo Gucci, one of Guccio Gucci’s four sons.
Having collaborated with the likes of Beyoncé, Salma Hayek and Ellie Goulding on flagship female empowerment campaigns, the label not only delivers the most stylish Gucci bags for women but aids female progression as well.
