Born out of a genuine love for the art of jewelry, Mateo designs timeless pieces with a modern outlook. The Jamaican-raised founder and self-taught designer Matthew Harris arrived in New York City at just 16 to begin college. After completing his education, Harris followed his passions which led him to create his own line of jewelry in 2009.
Mateo originally focused on men’s jewelry and its first collection borrowed from the contents of a working man’s toolbox. In 2014, the brand branched out into women's fine jewelry and continues to celebrate the beauty of simplicity with its unchanged minimalist aesthetic.
