Designer activewear for women
For years, we have seen activewear details such as athletic stripes, lycra and elastic grace the runways of New York, Paris, London and Milan. However, in recent years luxury designers such as Burberry and Alexander Wang combined both athletic and leisurewear to create hybrid looks. These looks then inspired the world of fashion and led to the realization of how ultimately stylish and practical sportswear could be for women’s everyday wardrobes. At Mytheresa you’ll find an array of stylish sports essentials such as leggings, sweatpants and sports bras from international luxury designers.
Sportswear as a new form of designer clothing
Designer brands such as Nike and adidas understand that women’s activewear needs to double up as both functional and stylish. While it may not be easy to manage a busy and hectic lifestyle, sportswear designers are allowing us to lead our exciting lives in more sleek and comfortable garments. In particular, we owe a big thanks to adidas for keeping our sportswear at the forefront of fashion. adidas has teamed up with the likes of Stella McCartney, Raf Simons and Rick Owens, to create luxurious and ground-breaking sportswear collections.
Wearing gym clothes all day long is now deemed as acceptable in society, but bridging the gap between morning yoga and a mid-morning meeting isn’t the easiest of tasks. However thanks to designers such as Live The Process and adidas by STELLA McCARTNEY, women are now given the ability to move from spin class to the boardroom, yet be taken just as seriously in a pair of sneakers. Thanks to the trend, even transforming your gym clothing to evening attire got a whole lot easier. Just add a Balmain blazer, over a sports bra and P.E Nation leggings for a day-to-night look.
Haute couture is likewise finding the trend hard to ignore and designers such as Versace have opted to send models down the runway in neon colors typically used by sportswear brands. So no matter whether you’re a fitness fanatic or not, showing up to a cocktail party in leggings and a crop top is just as acceptable as showing up in a mini dress. Even if you’re packing your bags for a city trip it’s just as adequate to pack a pair of designer sneakers, comfy sweatpants and a bodysuit as it is to pack an Acne Studios shirt and jeans. The activewear trend sees no limitations; it’s relaxed, empowered and chic.
