First pitched by Stan Lee back in 1962, Spider-Man broke the comics mold and the hero has achieved legends status in the decades that have passed since. Initially rejected for the fact that the character was at odds with the glamorous and successful archetype, Spider-Man finally got its debut on the cover of Amazing Fantasy, which by that point was already due to be cancelled.
