Designer mini dresses for women
If you're hunting for a garment for the day, night or anything in between, a designer mini dress is your calling. This season, Mytheresa has sourced the finest spectrum of leg-lengthening formats for you to pick from. Keep it short but charming in a Self-Portrait dress, nude heels and a Valentino Garavani bag. Alternatively, add an edgy spin to your wardrobe in a velvet bodycon complemented with Vetements shoes and a leather biker jacket.
The era that changed hemlines: the swinging sixties
The style may be small in length, yet its impact is immense. From fresh florals to sophisticated LBD, the invention of the designer dress has certainly left a lasting effect on the world of fashion. After WWII had passed, full and midi-length designs were all the range. However, appearances of the shorter style began to make impressions in films such as the Flight to Mars. It was then, in the 60's, that the British fashion designer Mary Quant brought the garment to life. Raising the hemlines of both skirts and dresses, she went on to name the altered items of clothing 'mini', after her favorite car. The supermodel Twiggy became the poster girl of the creation and renowned names such as Saint Laurent showcased the 'Mondrian' shift dress.
Acquire inspiration from the golden ages
For those who want to follow Jackie Kennedy's style, embrace the streets in a Balmain sleeveless white dress, synced with flat sandals, black sunglasses and a crossbody chain bag. If you prefer something a little more daring, then admire the likes of Mia Farrow. The American actress was often seen turning heads in a glimmering short formal dress. Grasp a similar form in a Saint Laurent or Galvan sequin number, integrated with a long pink duster coat. Alternatively, channel a Jane Birkin esthetic in a Gucci dress, harmonized with mid-heel pumps and a set of stand-out earrings.
