For a statement-making shoe this season, look no further than Rick Owens designs. The label's striking creations feature unconventional over-the-knee sneakers and avant-garde ankle boots. Put an edgy spin on your daily attire, by wearing Rick Owens x Doc Martens with ripped denim shorts and the brand's floor-length cardigan.
Launching his label in 1994, the California-born Richard Saturnino Owens first sold his creations exclusively to the popular boutique Charles Gallay in Los Angeles. In a sharp and distressed design, the name's leather jacket earned particular cult status when worn by Kate Moss for a French Vogue editorial. Later on, none other than Anna Wintour supported his first fashion show at NYFW in 2002. Every season since, the brand reveals show-stopping pieces in spectacular runway presentations that always have the fashion world talking.
Rick Owens himself describes his signature esthetic as the 'glunge', fusing glamour with grunge by using dark hues, sharp silhouettes and sculptural draping. Alongside womenswear and shoes, the multi-talented designer launched a furniture collection and other successful lines, such as Drkshdw, Rickowenslilies and Hunrickowens. His first adidas by Rick Owens collaboration was released in 2014, attributing a monochrome color palette and futuristic designs.
Embrace the brand's spirit with the Geobasket high-tops teamed with a loose-fitting midi dress and a leather jacket for a catwalk-approved ensemble. However, if you favor more of a casual approach, select the monochromatic slip-ons. Style the shoes with low-rise jeans and printed t-shirt for an effortless, urban attire.
In addition to women's sneakers, Rick Owens also offers an array of awe-inspiring boots. When heading to the label's fashion show, team a black lace-up pair with a midi skirt and Vetements sweater for a head-turning appearance. Complete the outfit with a statement necklace and a pair of sunglasses for a hint of glamour.
