Jeans evolution: years of hard wear

While American and Japanese denim have drawn on each other throughout history, unlike its Western counterpart, Japanese jeans have honed in on the traditional hand-dyeing methods using indigo, and continued use of old Toyoda looms—giving jeans unique properties that keep them from fading over time, and result in a stiffer and more rugged look.

Tom Ford, who produces its jeans in Los Angeles, sources its denim from the looms of Japan to achieve its sturdier styles.
