Feminine elegance receives a dose of bold, contemporary edge courtesy of David Koma.
THIS SEASON AT DAVID KOMA
David Koma drew inspiration from athleticwear this season; but unlike many of his contemporaries, he shunned street-style grunge and opted for something resolutely feminine and glamourous. Don’t expect baggy oversized T-shirts here; the Koma girl wants sultry, curve-enhancing shapes – and that’s exactly what she’ll get from the SS18 collection. Think ruffled minidresses crafted from technical fabrics and boldly hued jumpsuits with peek-a-boo lace panels. When it comes to the finer details, you’ll see tracksuit-inspired piping and pop-button trims – a subtle celebration of ‘90s athleisure but with that signature Koma polish.
THE DAVID KOMA STORY
Georgian-born designer David Koma graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with a distinction in MA Fashion in 2009 and launched his eponymous label directly afterwards. The London-based designer takes a sculptural, figure-enhancing approach to feminine style – a common theme throughout the label’s collections. In 2013, Koma was appointed Creative Director of Thierry Mugler and has been leading both his namesake brand and the iconic French house ever since.
