Documenting "The Ten", a collaborative project between Nike and Virgil Abloh in which 10 sneaker icons were redesigned, Taschen's Virgil Abloh. Nike. ICONS opens the door to both engineering ingenuity and Abloh’s investigative design process. Featuring reimagined icons that include Air Jordan 1, Air Force 1 and Air Presto, the 352-page book is a compendium that is equal parts catalogue and conceptual toolbox, and features two dominant sections – the first examining the visual culture of sneakers and the second presenting a lexicon that defines the key elements from which the project grew. Prototypes, original messages from Abloh to Nike designers, and treasures from the Nike archives are accompanied by texts from Nike’s Nicholas Schonberger, writer Troy Patterson, curator and historian Glenn Adamson and Virgil Abloh himself.
