Once a pivotal garment of the 90's and now a closet must-have, we at Mytheresa cannot get enough of designer high-waisted jeans. Choose from our assortment of ripped, skinny and tapered ankle designs to achieve a statement street style look.
The garment first came to light when the denim company Levi's began producing high-rise designer jeans that were to be worn by women working both on the land and in factories. At the turn of the 1950's the outfit began to transcend into everyday life and was adored due to its figure-loving design. The desire for a pair once again heightened within the 60's when Marylin Monroe starred in the film Misfits, wearing a feminine high-rise design with a tucked-in designer shirt. Throughout the 70's flared jeans were especially popular amongst the hippie subculture and in the 90's the youth treasured acid-wash styles.
High-rise boyfriend jeans make a fantastic day-to-night staple and look just as stylish teamed with designer heels as they do with sneakers. At night we recommend teaming the denim with a black designer turtleneck, a Gucci GG buckle belt and skyscraper platforms. In the daytime wear a similar look but switch heels to Saint Laurent for a more relaxed format.
For a laid-back 80's vibe select a printed designer T-shirt and tuck into a pair of 7 for All Mankind jeans, then complete with a set of statement boots and a designer crossbody bag. Alternatively, take style cues from the 70's and pair a pussy-bow blouse with wide-leg jeans for a bohemian look.
High-waisted pants co-ordinated with a crop top is certainly a match made in heaven. Celebrities such as Kristen Stewart and Diane Kruger are often seeing dressed in the attire. Follow their lead and team a bright tank with a pair of tight fitting Rag & Bone jeans and a designer bomber jacket.
