The Mytheresa Commitment

Planet, Talent, Product and Policy are the pillars that shape Mytheresa’s framework to address Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) issues; four pillars that make a difference for our company, for the industry, and for the world.

Climate change is one of the defining challenges for our planet. We are fully committed to our corporate responsibility to improve our environmental impact as a global business in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and waste. Therefore, we are equally committed to including our customers in this journey, empowering them with the knowledge and resources they need to make sustainable choices, and together, create a meaningful impact on our planet's future.

People are at the heart of our business. We drive a diverse, fair, inclusive and positive culture for our talent, partners, customers and the wider luxury industry.

We strive to be fully transparent about the impact of our brands and our products. We work with our brand partners and experts to help drive transparency, and to support animal welfare, responsible sourcing and the circular economy, promoting a culture of responsible consumption throughout our value chain.

We commit to the highest standards across our corporate culture, corporate governance and digital operations, including data management, corporate conduct and unwavering compliance with our policies.

Sustainability is a journey, not an end state; it’s about practices, not just goals. In a world where environmental, social and governance concerns are becoming more urgent than ever, we want to grow our business in the most sustainable way. Each of the deeply intertwined four pillars paves the way for our continuous profitable and responsible growth, as we build on our ongoing efforts to create a positive impact in our industry and on our planet.

This is our vision and framework to achieve our bigger purpose.
This is the Mytheresa Commitment.

Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time and the fashion industry has a significant impact on it. We are fully committed to improving our impact on the planet and mitigating climate change, particularly in relation to greenhouse gas emissions, waste and packaging.

Renewable electricity

We use renewable electricity within our operations. At Mytheresa, energy is mainly consumed in our warehouses, offices and stores. According to our latest calculations, we have achieved a 99% share of renewable electricity.

Carbon footprint

Since July 2021 and together with ClimatePartner, we have been calculating our corporate carbon footprint, meaning the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our company.

We generate direct emissions in our operations (scope 1) through the consumption of natural gas for heating in our buildings and the usage of cooling refrigerants for air conditioning in our locations.

We generate indirect emissions in our operations (scope 2) through our consumption of purchased electricity and natural gas.

Indirect emissions in our upstream and downstream activities (scope 3) relate to the use of energy, the purchase of our packaging and the transportation of it, the waste generated in our operations, our business travels, the commute of our teams and the storage of our data in external datacenters. In this category, we also include emissions generated by the shipment of our customers’ orders and potential returns of orders.

Emissions of shipping & returns

Our purpose is to offer a unique shopping experience, including reliable and speedy shipment and returns. These shipments and returns contribute to more than 80% of our calculated carbon footprint. To reduce this impact, our customers in Europe have the option of choosing between express and standard delivery.

In order to reduce the emissions from shipments, in 2024, we launched a 5-year partnership with DHL for the GoGreen Plus initiative. The aim of the deal is to reduce CO₂e emissions through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) instead of conventional jet fuel. More information is available here.

Financing climate action

There will always be some CO₂e emissions that we cannot avoid or reduce. We take responsibility for these emissions by financially supporting climate projects. For this reason, we are a ClimatePartner certified company and you can track our contributions on the ClimatePartner certified page

You can also support climate action by financing a project corresponding to the CO₂e emissions produced by your order's preparation, packaging, delivery, and potential return. You can find more information here.

Waste

Waste is a significant part of our impact on the planet. Within our operations, waste is generated mainly in our warehouse, upon reception and subsequent storage of the products from our luxury brand partners. Our main sources of waste are therefore the cardboard and paper we receive from our brand partners, as well as plastics used to protect the goods during storage in our warehouse. We work continuously to increase the percentage of waste that is recycled and reduce the absolute value of the waste we generate.

Waste is also generated by the packaging that we send to our customers. Information on the composition of our packaging and how to recycle it can be found here.

People are at the heart of our business. We drive a diverse, fair, inclusive and positive culture for our teams, partners, customers and the wider luxury industry.

Well-being & work culture

At Mytheresa, we are committed to providing our teams with a safe, inclusive, and constructive work environment. This is achieved by:

  • Supporting our teams with ongoing training

  • Fostering a work-life integration with appropriate policies and measures

  • Implementing Health and Safety Guidelines in our logistics center and committing to continuous improvement

  • Encouraging one day of social work per person, per year. We believe it is important to give back and engage in projects within the communities in which we operate. For this reason, employees can organize a Social Day for the association they wish to support

  • Conducting regular employee satisfaction surveys, to monitor the satisfaction of our teams, as well as the impact of the measures we take to increase their well-being

Diversity & equal opportunities

Mytheresa is an equal-opportunity employer and we do not accept any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying. It is extremely important for us that equal opportunities are offered to all teams in terms of performance evaluation, career opportunities and payment. To make this happen we rely on the contribution of:

  • The Mytheresa Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (DE&I Committee), established in December 2020, which provides advice on diversity, equity and inclusion matters

  • The MYCommunity, our employee resource group dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging, which supports the DE&I Committee in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at Mytheresa

In addition, we have implemented the following:

  • A mandatory Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training was rolled out to all teams and is now included in the compulsory training for all new starters

  • Sustainability and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion are included in our leadership training

  • We advocate for women in leadership roles, in alignment with our Diversity Policy

  • We have committed to sponsoring at least 10 talents from underrepresented backgrounds in their business career in our global offices

  • We regularly assess the diversity of our teams and have more than 100 nationalities in our teams

We strive to be fully transparent about the impact of our brands and products. We work with our brand partners and experts to help drive transparency, and to support animal welfare, responsible sourcing, responsible consumption and the circular economy. We aim to empower our customers to make informed and conscious decisions about the products they choose.

Mindfully Created Capsules

We are committed to offering our customers curated selections that reflect our dedication to responsible sourcing. Our Mindfully Created Capsules are a testament to this commitment, representing a rigorous evaluation process that extends beyond mere aesthetics to encompass the ethical and responsible efforts of our brand partners. This initiative is part of our commitment to collaborate with brand partners to promote products created with a focus on sustainability.

Each Mindfully Created Capsule underwent a meticulous, two-step assessment to ensure alignment with our stringent standards.

Step 1: Brand Partner Evaluation

• We begin by assessing our brand partner as a whole, examining public information such as company websites, ESG reports, and news, as well as conducting our own in-depth evaluations. This assessment can also be performed for the brand’s parent company.

• Our assessment is guided by the Mytheresa Responsible Sourcing Guidelines, which are built around the four pillars of the Mytheresa commitment: MYPlanet, MYTalent, MYProduct, and MYPolicy. The guidelines can be provided upon request.

• To be considered for a Mindfully Created Capsule, a brand partner must achieve a minimum total score based on the MYPlanet, MYTalent, and MYPolicy pillars of our guidelines.

Step 2: Capsule Product Evaluation

• Following the successful brand partner evaluation, each individual product within the future capsule is assessed.

• This assessment considers product-specific information provided by the brand partner and aligns with the criteria set within the MYProduct pillar of our guidelines.

• Where relevant, the capsule's products are also evaluated against the MYPlanet, MYTalent, and MYPolicy pillars, ensuring a holistic approach.

• Only items within the Mindfully Created Capsule are assessed and a minimum score — calculated based on the score from step one, in addition to the points awarded for product features — must be achieved.

Product Journey

We are committed to transparency and providing our customers with deeper insights into the sustainability practices behind every product and brand partner we feature. Since June 2025, we have added the “Product Journey” section to the product detail pages, providing more detailed information about the product itself and the company behind it.

This initiative aims to enhance transparency regarding the origin of the products and the materials used. While not all brands could be contacted or have opted to participate at this stage, we are continuously working to increase the number of products featuring a detailed Product Journey.

Product information

Where available, the following product information, voluntarily shared by our brand partners, is presented:

  • Traceability: To offer a clearer view of the supply chain, we collect and display information on the countries involved in the various production stages. These may include (but are not limited to): Assembly, Confection, Cutting, Dyeing, Finishing, Knitting, Manufacturing, Printing, Sewing, Stitching, Tanning, and Weaving. It should be noted that some of the production stages (like stitching for shoes) may refer only to the upper of the shoe or to the main component of a garment.
The traceability information provided reflects the key stages of the product journey. It is presented for transparency purposes and does not alter the official country of origin as indicated in the Product Details section or on the product label.

  • Materials: The percentage of recycled or synthetic content is calculated by our brand partners, primarily by dividing the weight of the respective material in the product by the total weight of the garment. Please note that the methodology may vary slightly between brands and that the percentage may reflect the main component of the garment.

A higher share of synthetic content may lead to the release of plastic microfibers into the environment during washing. We encourage you to consult our care instructions for tips on how to reduce microfiber shedding, and care for garments responsibly.

The recycled content in our products may come from various sources, including textile-to-textile recycling (where old textiles are processed into new fibers), post-consumer recycled materials (where discarded materials such as plastic bottles and other discarded consumer goods are processed into fibers), and pre-consumer / post-industrial recycled materials (where production waste and offcuts from manufacturing processes are processed into fibers).

Each of these recycling methods contributes to waste reduction. However, their environmental benefits can vary. Textile-to-textile recycling is seen as particularly impactful due to its closed-loop approach, keeping materials in the textile cycle and helping reduce the demand for virgin fibers.

Responsible Sourcing Assessment

We also share the result of our Responsible Sourcing Assessment within this section.  This assessment is performed to evaluate the sustainability practices of the companies behind our brand partners and to provide deeper insights to our customers.

Our assessment is based on a rigorous methodology that includes the key components detailed below. Recognition in the Responsible Sourcing Assessment refers solely to company-level practices and does not imply product-level verification.

  • B Corp™ Certification: Certified B Corporations™ are a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. They are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. This is a community of leaders, driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good, that demonstrate a high social and environmental performance.

  • EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings: EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings. Our brand partners are invited to complete an EcoVadis questionnaire tailored to their industry, region, and company size. Only assessments completed within the last two years are considered, and assessments at the Group level are accepted. The EcoVadis rating methodology measures the quality of a company’s sustainability management system through three pillars (policies, actions, and results) and across up to 21 sustainability criteria, covering 4 categories: environment, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis sustainability experts analyze the provided responses and supporting documents to establish a rating. If a brand partner does not complete the EcoVadis questionnaire, we consider other recognized sustainability assessments when available.

  • Transparency & Information Sharing: We assess the level of transparency of each brand partner by reviewing the sustainability information they provided during the year.

The results obtained allow us to categorize the assessed brand partners who have reached a minimum threshold, defined by Mytheresa, into three groups: Committed, High-Performer, and Leader. Only B Corp™ certified companies are eligible to be assessed as 'Leaders', and all B Corp™ certified companies receive this designation.

The assessment is updated quarterly, and the last assessment was performed on 31/03/2025.

Responsible consumption

To foster responsible consumption, we:

Responsible sourcing

As part of our commitment to responsible sourcing we:

  • Work only only with brands that comply with the Mytheresa Partner Code of Conduct

  • Share our Responsible Sourcing Guidance with our brand partners. This document sets out the most relevant sustainability matters that we believe a brand partner should consider when trying to source and produce more responsibly and is organized around the four pillars of the Mytheresa Commitment

  • Offer Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) watches in partnership with Bucherer to our high-end customers in Europe, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom

  • Have been a Fur-Free retailer since January 2023 and implement the Mytheresa Animal Welfare Policy
