The iconic Diane von Furstenberg is famed for her easy wrap dresses and delectable signature prints.
As creative director for Diane von Furstenberg, Jonathan Saunders continues to prove that he is not only capable of handling the beloved brand, but he’s moving it forward in intriguing ways. Opting to play up the options for textiles, he’s infusing new life into prints and colours. It wouldn’t be Diane von Furstenberg if the FW17 collection didn’t include wrap silhouettes and fluid draping. We also love the gingham prints, contrasting trims and tiny, colourful stripes that are giving these looks a fresh feel. Of particular interest is the striped, floral-printed dress that converts from halter-style to one-shoulder wear: in the hands of a less experienced designer, it might have been questionable. Here? It’s a conversation-starting, hue-saturated chic look worthy of an encore.
