Democratising fashion, Matthew Adams Dolan is propelling American ready-to-wear into the twenty-first century.
THIS SEASON AT MATTHEW ADAMS DOLAN
A truly millennial designer, Matthew Adams Dolan deconstructed, reconstructed, and exaggerated classic denim and office attire into democratic and gender-defying silhouettes for Spring/Summer ‘18. And what better sources of inspiration to turn to for his project than fashion photographer Bruce Weber and the film American Psycho? An off-the-shoulder dress in pinstripe suiting, a box-pleated miniskirt in deep indigo denim or khaki, and a billowing shirt with exaggerated sleeves and “MAD” (the designer’s initials) on the breast pocket: we’re coveting all of these pieces from the collection.
THE MATTHEW ADAMS DOLAN STORY
Born in the United States, raised in Australia, and having studied in Japan and Switzerland as a youth, Matthew Adams Dolan brings an authentically cosmopolitan background to his fresh, contemporary designs. Nonetheless, his foundations are steeped in Americana: think oversized denim and re-imagined workwear. Perhaps, then, it’s fitting that his eponymous label’s studio is situated in New York City’s TriBeCa. We can’t wait to see where this nascent label, already commanding a celebrity cult following, is headed.
