THIS SEASON AT DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
Why fix what isn’t broken? This season, creative director Jonathan Saunders looked for new ways to approach Diane von Furstenberg’s retro-infused heritage. The brand found its calling card in '70s-era bohemian-esque glamour, and Saunders is exploring new ways to channel that mood into minidresses, pencil skirts, jumpsuits and more. The belted dresses, swirling hues and billowing sleeves did feel vintage; but, at the same time, they embodied a contemporary vision of femininity. For us: on casual-minded days we’ll start with the pyjama-style shirt, set in the season’s vibrant shade of electric blue.

Since launching her revolutionary wrap dress in the 1970s, Diane von Furstenberg has remained one of the biggest names and, indeed, fashion brands in the world. The designer deservedly received the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005; and, one year after the win, she was appointed President of the organisation. Striking the perfect balance between glamorous and bohemian, the label will always be the ultimate destination for an edit of easy-to-wear dresses, of which you truly can never have enough. Spring/Summer 2017 saw an important moment in the history of the house, with the arrival of Scottish native Jonathan Saunders as the newly appointed creative director, who took the reigns from the founder herself.
