Part of Marie Michielssen's Les Femmes series for Serax – one of many collection produced in collaboration with the Belgian brand – this vase presents a compelling contrast. Characterized by an intriguing softness, as witnessed in small details such as decorative elements on the figure's clothing and headwear, the feminine form also offers a inherent strength, which Michielssen says runs through the entire collection. The hands and eyes, too, play a central role in this design, adding a sense of humanity and kindness. The result is a clay vessel that is equal parts muted and impactful. This large, wide version, Les Femmes 02, comes in beige and has a transparent matte glaze applied to both the interior and base.
