Creative genius Thom Browne continues to hold the fashion world in the palm of his hand with his innovative approach to tailoring.
This season at Thom Browne has pulled into harbour with a summery, nautical emphasis. There are the more obvious pieces – the beach scene-inspired knitwear, the anchor themed bomber jackets, the playful crab handbag – as well as more subtle nautical striping and detailing that weaves itself throughout the collection. We’ll be happy, at any rate, to boat off in one of the designer’s playful fringed blazers with tactile rope detailing along the hems. Smooth sailing indeed!
After several years spent heading up the creative department at Club Monaco, Thom Browne launched his eponymous label in New York in 2003. Browne shows his menswear collections in Paris and his women’s RTW offerings in New York, and both shows are always highly anticipated on account of their highly conceptual and resolutely extravagant nature. The American designer is widely recognised as having created a ‘new’ silhouette in men’s tailoring, and the same can be said of his masterful womenswear tailoring. He is also the deserving winner of many awards, including the CFDA’s ‘Menswear Designer of the Year’ and ‘Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award’ prizes. Thom Browne: one of the most exciting designers of modern times, well worth investing in.
