New York based Coach with its idolised horse and carriage logo is upping the ante from luxury leather goods, fast becoming one of the world’s most coveted ready-to-wear offerings.
Coach was established in 1941 in a Manhattan loft with an idea to create beautiful leather that would be as supple as a worn baseball glove. In 1961 fashion designer Bonnie Cashin joined Coach and worked on some of the classic designs that continue to be coveted today, such as the Coach ‘Duffle Sac’ bag. In more recent times, under the direction of Stuart Vevers, Coach’s super-chic ready-to-wear offering has proven to be a purveyor of hit after hit.
To watch the SS16 show from Coach was to be transported to a prairie-swept, all-American desert dream. With such heavy emphasis on dainty patchworked florals, a romantic ’70s vibe can be felt throughout the collection. We’ve fallen head over heels for the lightweight pleated chiffon pieces that boast a real sense of ease. The breezy designs are tempered with patchwork leather designs for that bohemia-meets-the-Old West feel. And as one would expect from Coach, the accessories are to die for! The wear-with-anything shoulder bags and easy, low-cut cowboy boots are the stars of the show.
