| New York designer Marc Jacobs launched his eponymous line in 1986.
The following year, Jacobs received the distinct honor of being the
youngest designer to be awarded the industry’s highest tribute, the CFDA
Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. The CFDA bestowed him once again
in 1992 with another great honor, the Women’s Designer of the Year Award.
In 1997, he joined forces with luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton
where he is the artistic director for their ready-to-wear line. Throughout his
career, he has never been afraid to stretch the boundaries and has always
had a genuine knack for fashion’s next mood, tinged with a smidgen of
fantasy. One of the most ingenious and influential designers of our time, he
keeps the fashion world on the edge with his unpredictability and sets the
design agenda for those of us wanting more. |
