| Jeanne Lanvin founded her own label in 1889. Lanvin became known for her mother-and-daughter outfits and exquisite robes de style, as well as her modern and global approach to the fashion industry. Lanvin made such beautiful clothes for her daughter that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, Lanvin was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her new boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris. 1909, Lanvin joined the Syndicat de la Couture, which marked her formal status as a couturière. 1920s, Lanvin opened shops devoted to home decor, menswear, furs, lingerie and perfume. The French based collection has evolved into one of the most sought after brands in the business today. Creative Director Alber Elbaz brings a strong sense of feminity and charm to the collection with his whimsical grace and unique style. He takes pleasure in the element of imperfection, believing that it makes fashion more human and personal. Elbaz won the prestigious CFDA International Designer of the Year award in 2005 and in 2007 was listed among Time magazine`s 100 Most Influential People in the World. |
