Starting out life as a cult Manhattan store for those “in the know”, Opening Ceremony has since gone on to become one of the coolest brands on the planet!
Opening Ceremony’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection brought new urgency to our sense of irreverent cool with a show that dipped into political discourse. Note the cool, retro styles that were inspired by photos of the designers’ parents, taken when they were newly landed immigrants on Ellis Island. The gravitas of the presentation was tempered by a showing of extra-covetable ensembles rife with voluminous ruffles, stripes and noteworthy layering. You’ll be able to recognize us from the back in the designer’s embroidered camouflage jacket.
Founded in 2002 by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon (also the creative directors at Kenzo), Opening Ceremony quickly became a multi-channel fashion brand with numerous high-profile collaborations, a TV channel, an annual magazine and a cult main-line collection!
