Whether it’s luxe leather bikers or opulent double-breasted blazers, Balmain really does have the best jackets ever.
Spring/Summer 2017 at Balmain is alluringly exotic. Playing with ideals of sensuality and seduction, Olivier Rousteing presents sublime silhouettes that attribute something of an urban Amazonian to the brand's signature sex appeal. Fluid fabrics are cinched at the waist, while slinky cuts show off shoulders and accentuate the décolleté. We're particularly obsessed with the sailor trousers – exquisite under one of the brand's long-length cardigan or classic blazers.
Founder Pierre Balmain’s design vision was of femininity and opulence. His beautifully embroidered creations with nipped-in waists and longer, fuller skirt shapes were worn by icons ranging from Audrey Hepburn to Ava Gardner to Josephine Baker and Brigitte Bardot. Today, under the direction of hugely acclaimed Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s decadent design codes are still intact, but infused with a rock’n’roll, even hip-hop attitude and muses such as Rihanna and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley among the unofficial brand ambassadors.
